Clay pieces..

I wanted to represent my new pieces using a media I hadn't used before, something that wasn't just flat. So I used clay. Below are images of a piece I made.. I found a well splintered piece of wood and pasted some clay into the cracks. the getting a finely pointed blade I etched some of the words into the clay. I like these as I fee they are bringing me back in the direction of the alleyways. They reminded me of the crusting peeling off paint and the layers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Again inspired by the bricks which I had earlier looked at, I want to build a sort of wall with tablets containing these scrawls of graffiti. So I rolled out 14 irregular squares and rectangles, varying in size. While it was still wet I used my earlier taken tracings to trace some of the more iconic words. That done, I was told to be careful how I dry them as some of the bricks were quite fragile. I chose to Air dry them, Ill update here later on how they turn out.
